Had a beautiful scenic drive up to Shropshire today and made a special effort to call for lunch in this lovely pub garden.
Sitting underneath the trees was very cool as it was shady for our small dog.
My husband had steak with pepper sauce which looked amazing and I opted for scampi. The serving plates were very hot too which is such a bonus.
Staff always very efficient and polite.
The toilets inside are extremely clean too.

What a find! Looking for lunch after a walk in the area and stumbled upon the pub. Lovely relaxed country interior, beautiful views, friendly staff. Quick service and very tasty linguine pasta and burger meals. Made us want to come back and camp. Thank you. X

Excellent meal served in a lovely atmosphere by attentive staff. The liver parfait and smoked salmon starters were delicious, but the pièce de resistance was the perfectly cooked blue sirloin peppered steaks, which along with its garnish was served piping hot. Hats off to the chef and staff for a very enjoyable evening.

Absolutely wonderful Sunday barbecue lunch. It was amazing 120%. Darren is a most talented chef, and we will certainly be visiting again, to enjoy more great food x

Went there on the way back home after work. I was on my own, requested food outside and it turned up promptly. Good price, fast service and staff was helpful. A+++

Stopped on camping and caravan field at rear of Pub. Checking in at Pub. Superb views flat pitches. £21 per night. Good selection of beers at Pub and tasty Pub menu prices standard for Pub food.

A friendly a welcoming place.
A good meal with a pleasant and timely service, friendly staff and food cooked to an excellent standard.
Steak was cooked a bit more rare than I would normally like. That said the cut of meat was outstanding and there was nothing left. Top marks to the person who cooked it.
Dog friendly which is rare these days and pleasant to take our little dog in with us.
He enjoyed a bit of Steak too.
A bit more sauce with the chicken was brought when asked.
Nothing to complain about her.
The beer was cold. The wine was pleasant.

Food was amazing with good portions, not massive but plenty by all means. Dessert was great too.

Great place to camp - the heated towel rails saved us after arriving completely soaked on bikes. We were able to have a hot shower and dry everything out overnight. Nice hot food (especially the pie) and lively bar. Quiet night of sleep.

A friendly place with a good range of local ales and quality meals. The waiting staff are excellent. We visit while staying at their campsite at the rear where there are glorious views of the countryside.

We stayed at the Powis Arms back in February. When we arrived we had a very warm welcome and was checked into a lovely quiet room. The location of the pub, was at the entrance of the Walcott Hall where we had a nice walk around the grounds. Where do I start about the food, it wasn't the usual pub grub. The finest ingredients and really well presented and the Rib Eye Pie is to die for and the breakfasts were of the same fresh quality.

Can't comment on the rooms, however I can comment on the pub, super. Lovely friendly staff and excellent value food. The campsite behind was terrific. A great find!

Spent a nice but windy long weekend at the campsite and it was lovely! Staff at the pub were absolutely lovely and happy to help with anything we needed.

Outdoor seating had some lovely heaters and was good and sheltered from the elements. There was a power cut on our first night but the staff still made do and we were still able to have a tasty meal.

They had a new chef who had just started and everything that was served to us was absolutely delish. Def recommend!!

Great place to stop when out walking for a meal and a pint or 2. Plus, you can also camp out or have a caravan at the campsite or stay in a room. Service for our meal was great, and the dogs loved their sausages

Excellent food and friendly staff. Campsite is flat with nice walks around the hall. Breakfast is superb. Will return for sure.
Update.
After eight or nine visits now to the campsite I can't fault it. Campsite is great , pub is great , meals are superb and reasonably priced. All the staff are awesome. By far our favourite place to camp and forget about the world and unplug and recharge the soul. Can't wait till June to return for the opera in the hall.
Bishops Castle is close for supplies and Clun is idyllic for an afternoon/evening visit.

Lovely friendly service and very well run pub.
The staff take your order outside the back entrance to pub for drinks or food paid for on ordering.
The staff then bring the drinks/food to your table.
One in & one out of the toilets which is brilliant no crowding together.
The outside tables are well separated under a sheltered area with heated lamps, which really do keep the whole table of people seated under it really warm.
The food was delicious, so was the ice cream's, they went down a treat with the kids (& the big kids too).
There's a campsite out the back with electric hooks up, we will return & stay here sometime over the year as really good prices to stay.
We all had a lovely night & will definitely be returning soon

Great Service and Food! - Me and my family were had dinner at the Powis Arms as we were all staying at Walcot for my wedding. Due to us being a large party I pre- ordered for everyone. Lucy and Jackie were really helpful in the process and it was so well run when we arrived. we had a whole room to ourselves and all the food was amazing! We were so well looked after with plenty off staff checking if we needed drinks. Such a lovely atmosphere and I really felt all the staff when above and beyond for us. I will be visiting again for sure! Grace & Jordon x

Without a reservation I took the chance to get a Sunday lunch. Any expectations I may have had were absolutely exceeded. A starter of roasted beets with mushrooms and Stilton, was absolutely delicious. The Garlic roast chicken breast with perfectly cooked veggies, was of a quality that many 5star restaurants would have been envious. If there was a star to the meal, it was the gravy, I think the Chef could bottle and sell it on its own. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy fine country cooking at its pinnacle best.
An addendum to the above review. Having had the excellent meal the other day, I heard that 2nd of March would have a curry night. Truly wonderful selection of Indian starters, followed by a compilation of Currys. All I can say was that the curry evening totally matched the quality of my first meal there. Something to add, the service was excellent, very polite, extremely effecient and made the dining experience an even greater delight.
Add to that, the incredibly talented Chef, made a point of checking that all diners had enjoyed his great creations.
Without any hesitation, on my next visit, I will sampling more of their excellent fare.

Even though on this visit there was a different Chef, it takes a very special one to create a truly delicious meal from humble ingredients and make it memorable. Would highly recommend, the pub and especially this Chefs incredible abilities.25/11/22
