Bar Il Molo

We stopped here for an Aperol Spritz and coffee, we were very satisfied. Our waiter was great, we also got little snacks with our drinks. There are a lot of birds stealing food from the customers table, which is very entertaining. The view from the bar is unbeatable.

We came to Varenna in mid November and virtually every bar or restaurant was (understandably) closed as it was off season.
However this place was open and after waiting a short time in a queue for a table we were not disappointed.
A great view and prices were decent for a tourist town like this.
€5.80 for beers and €7 for 250ml carafe of red wine.

Had a lovely time here today! The food was yummy (eggplant parmigiana), the staff were excellent and the setting was stunning!! Would come back again and again and special mention to the very friendly tall waiter! He did a great job! Thank you!

Favourite restaurant in Varenna. We came for dinner three times. Don’t be put off by the lines they move relatively fast and you can observe the stunning view while you wait. They also have high chairs which was appreciated baby in tow. Lake fish risotto is a must try for local fare and we also ordered the potatoes wedges each time we they were delicious. Loved the pasta and the steak was also a huge portion for a reasonable price

One of the only places that was open during off-season. Friendly staff, tasty Spritz, and lovely view of the lake. We also got complimentary snacks alongside the drinks.

Cafe with a beautiful view on a Lake Como. You can find here Italian/American style of breakfast. A bit overpriced for the quality of the food.

Slightly confusing service and not many bathrooms available, however, this place has a stunning view which can’t be beaten. The food (pizza) was very fresh, brought out quickly and great value. The house wine was also lovely. So glad we stopped here.

Bar Molo is awesome even in chilly November they are open in Varenna. Beautiful view while we sit here and drink amazing wine and delicious food, no complaints here!

Outstanding meal with a phenomenal view. They were very busy but still managed great service. We didn’t get to sit along the water view seats but the view and atmosphere were still great. We both had pasta and spritz that were well priced and delicious.

What an experience! My wedding was at a nearby venue at Varenna and we booked Bar Il Molo for the next day brunch and what a great decision it was!! The booking process was so smooth and flexible, we had a surprise addition of 6 guests and they were able to accommodate. They were also able to accommodate very specific dietary preferences. The food quality and quantity were great value and diverse enough to feed a variety of different tastes. The staff were attentive and friendly and the view was out of this world. Overall, we were super happy with the experience and the guests complimented us a lot on the choice of place. Would come back for sure!

Great waterfront bar and restaurant.
Very friendly, relaxed and helpful waiters. We had a couple of pasta dishes, a pizza, and a panini and all were very tasty and enjoyable. The pizza was standout. We had gavi wine on recommendation and very tasty.
Food nicely presented and very reasonably priced. View was superb. Atmosphere lovely and no rush for us to vacate table. Top spot….we’ll be back 👍

We loved this place and ate several times while staying in Varenna. My son is gluten free and we really loved their charcuterie board, the risotto with white fish, and the caprese salad.

Went for breakfast and dinner. Food was delicious & great views right by the edge of the lake.

Possibly my favourite bar in the world! Location is perfect. I expected the drinks/service to be mediocre but both absolutely exceeded expectations! Hugo Spritz was divine, as was the pictured prosecco. Prices are surprisingly reasonable considering the breathtaking view. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly despite being very busy. Lovely snacks with drinks like crisps, pistachios, olives, etc. Such a fabulous experience. Can’t recommend enough!

Perfect pasta, pizza and hot chocolate with the most beautiful view!

One of our favorite places during our Lake Como/Varenna visit! Came back a second time just to dine here again. We loved the quieter small towns along the lake like Varenna! So charming and less crowded. Would recommend ordering a carafe of table wine with your dinner - everything was delicious. Breakfast was great too. And the view! Perfect little inlet cove, church bells in the background, and lake view.

Ignore the bad reviews from tourists. Why would you come to Varenna and order a hamburger? Do you see any cows on the lake?

The local cuisine is delicious as are the local beers. I had a flatbread and found the produce to be fresh and very tasty.

The restaurant can get very busy but the service is quick and efficient.

Beautiful location and great food/drinks! Yes you’ll have to wait a little if you want one of the beautiful tables on their terrace- but it is totally worth it! The services was great (the gentleman working their worked extremely hard to take care of everyone). I had their signature spritz which I highly recommend! Their panna cotta was delicious and so was their food.

Amazing views while enjoying good food, service was good but we were lucky with getting a table Because our friends were already sitting there! ( would reservate) i took the pizza but i would take the spaghetti instead, panne cotta was also amazing and ice creams looked worth trying too!! All in all not too expensive for this amazing location, go here during sunset!!
