Hotel Royal Victoria, by R Collection Hotels

This was the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at. I booked it last minute but I was a bit worried as I did not read much about it. We arrived to Varenna by train and did a 10 minute walk to the hotel. You can avoid this walk if you call the hotel and ask them to pick you up (it is complimentary).

We were pleasantly surprised once we arrived. The hotel is placed in the main plaza of the town. At the other side, you can get an incredible view of the lake with Bellagio in the distance.

We arrived and the staff immediately greeted us and helped us get situated. Get the room with the balcony, trust me. You will be able to wake up and enjoy looking st the lake in the morning while drinking spresso from the balcony or just read a book. The concierge, Hugo, also came through with an order of flowers for our room which were beautiful and fresh.

The breakfast is great but not amazing, I don't complain because it is free. However you can enjoy the view of the lake while eating which is very hard to do in the other places in town.

Hugo also recommended we go to bellagio for the day and made a quick plan for us. He was incredibly knowledgeable and he is actually well known with a lot of the merchants in the area. He was able to provide us discounts for boat tours and other plans in the area.

We loved this hotel and our three night stay here in May! Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake with views that delighted us each time we walked in from a long day of sightseeing. The balcony was peaceful and private with curtains on the sides. The room and bathroom were very comfortable for us, with soft bathrobes and nice toiletries, and had everything we needed. The hotel’s location was perfect, away from the crowds, off a piazza with a pretty church, yummy pizza, and gelato close by. Three treats that were included with our stay were a welcome drink in a peaceful restaurant/bar overlooking the lake, tickets to the pretty gardens at the hotel next door, and a delicious breakfast. We loved all of them. Each member of the staff that we interacted with, from the desk to the restaurants to the concierge were very kind and helpful and made our stay special. Varenna itself was our favorite of the towns we visited by ferry. It seemed like there was a photo that begged to be taken around each turn. We enjoyed a challenging hike up the mountain to a cemetery, waterfall, and castle. What an amazing place!

It is one of the most incredible places we have stayed. It's right on Lake Como in Menaggio, Italy. The service is exceptional, and you are pampered the moment you enter the hotel.

The room we had was great. It was spacious and clean and the view was spectacular.

The service at the pool bar was touch and go. $20 euros for a gin and tonic is expensive.

The location was wonderful and close to some great restaurants.

Great hotel!

Positives:
- nice room with a nice view on the lake
- good service (from check in, to the concierge helping us make reservations)
- good breakfast
- good AC working in the room
- has a beach on the lake and has a small private swimming pool
- good cafe with a great lake view
- I liked the area were in. Personally, I preferred staying in Veronna over Bellagio or Menaggio.

Negatives:
- expected cleaner rooms for the given price
- the shower was weird; the shower head is placed at an awkward height and points to the outside of the bath. Furthermore, the curtain was short.

Overall, I think we got what we expected from this hotel given the price we paid.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! It’s absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The breakfast buffet is delicious and the views are incredible. The staff were wonderful too! Luca, Irene, Laura, and Veronica made our stay the best! Thank you!

I wish i could give this place 10 stars for service! We arrived after a long day of travel due to cancelled trains from Florence and multiple means of transportation ( buses, commuter trains, cabs and walking). Our Air BnB host did not respond to us informing him of delays so we unfortunately did not have a place to stay when we arrived in Varenna. It was 11 pm when we arrived. We spent an hour in the pouring rain awaiting a response from our Air BnB host, while standing in the pouring rain. And then could not get a cab. This hotel welcomed us and got us a room immediately. The front desk was incredible!! They opened the kitchen and made us a pizza and brought us two glasses of wine from the bar. The friendliness, professionalism at this hotel is First Class all the way. I truly wish we were staying here instead of going to our Air BnB.

The buffet breakfast was lovely with panoramic views of Lake Como!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our wine and an incredible view of the lake on the terrace. Breakfast was phenomenal, including the prosecco mimosa. Our room was very comfortable with modern amenities. Would go back in a heart beat !

Wonderful hotel with lake views. We had a room facing the ocean and slept all night with the balcony doors open. So nice to wake up and see the lake! Great breakfast buffet, pool that is perfect to cool down after spending the day sightseeing, and had great food and drinks on the patio. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, plus they have a shuttle to the train station. Varenna is quiet yet complete with everything you need for a great holiday. We’ll be back!

LOVED this hotel! The view and the pool were perfect. The garden next door was breathtakingly gorgeous. We had an amazing 5 course meal at the hotel that was the best meal of my life.

This hotel is incredible beautiful and the service is the best, we stayed here for 2 nights, the staffs are nice and helpful, everyone look happy to help you out or do the service, it made us feel very happy to be here, we are definitely come back for sure!

Beautiful hotel with a perfect view of the Lake. Stayed here for two nights and the hotel was nice. Our room had a small balcony facing the hotel. Lots of places walking distance. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Varenna.

Fabulous romantic Hotel on Lake Como. Smaller than usual room with a bar fridge that was not working. The bed was very comfortable and the terrace balcony opened onto some of the most magnificent scenery in the world. Great for a romantic weekend or mid week getaway.
The restaurant serves great local delicacies. All in all a great hotel .

An amazing hotel in the most beautiful spot. We spent 4 days here for our 10th wedding anniversary and had a fantastic time. We were able to check in early and were given a fantastic room and a glass of prosecco on arrival. The food was lovely in both restaurants and for breakfast. Francesca and Sharon on reception could not have been more helpful and arranged for a meal in the garden and for flowers to be delivered to the hotel. The room was lovely and the view simply stunning. Thank you to everyone at the hotel

The perfect hotel! We searched hotels for a long time before our trip and ended up here and could not have been happier. It’s the perfect location, amenities, breakfast, service. Just everything. Stay here!

As visitors to Varenna, we stopped by the hotel for dinner and LOVED it! We had a table for two right on the water at dusk and enjoyed everything we ate. The service was attentitive yet respected our time throughout the evening. We loved the few culinary 'surprises' sprinkled throughout our meal.

Just stay here. There is no reason to look any further. We researched for days which started and thankfully ended with this Hotel. Your stay includes a walk through an amazing botanical garden which ends at this hotel. The view, the location, the breakfast all 5 Star.
