Vecchia Varenna

A fantastic location with the terrace overlooking the lake. No reservations possible. We were told we would need to wait an hour but it was only about 10mins. We chose this place for the location and because it has vegan options on the menu. The menu is limited but we like that. You can view it on the website and there and at the restaurant it is in Italian and English. The pasta dishes and cheese platter were both high quality delicious as were the desserts. Service was a little slow and it is quite pricey but we think justified. This is for a slow quality meal with a great view, not a rushed one.

Lovely restaurant directly overlooking the lake. The prices are a bit steep but in line with the rest of the restaurants in Varenna. Highly recommend their goat cheese salad, I've had it twice already and will be coming back for more on my next trip to Varenna!

Vecchia Varenna was an absolute positive surprise and a promising start of dining at Como lake. The deal is simple: amazing lake view, tasteful environment, professional attentive service and high-end menu, all for €30/person.
The starter’s green pea emulsion was jaw-dropping. Decent carbonara and not-your-average tiramisu, all the right portion. Classic one-sip espresso. Hint for vegetarians: just ask your main without the pork. Highly recommended.

Had a superb dinner here in beautiful surroundings. One guide book called it one of the most romantic locations on Como and I would agree. Service was perfect, the food was certainly upper end cuisine and brilliantly done. Very very good.

First of all very good food with a good mix of local species and ingredients. This combined with the view makes it a perfect place in Varenna to have a lunch and relax next to the lake. A bit pricey but seems that is the same in all the area (tourist zone). Will come again :)

Beautiful village on Lake Como. Varenna is located very close to Bellagio. Had lunch along the elevated walk way which is the main attraction of Varenna. This village is highly recommended by Rick Steves.

The views were impossible to beat. It was a fantastic way to end a busy day of sightseeing with a relaxing meal along the water.

Gorgeous seating right on the water! Has fixed menu with 2 options each for appetizer, main course and dessert. We had a larger group so we got to try everything and all options were fantastic. 40 euro a person but very reasonable for the quality and portion size. Service was impeccable. Has a small window of open hours so plan accordingly. Very, very worth it!!

Vegan option available! We had the vegan bolognese which tasted delicious! Good sized portion with fresh pasta.

Lovely restaurant with an astonishing view of the lake. Tasty refined cuisine with local products. Staff always kind and helpful.

We arrived in the off season with only about 50 minutes to spare before we had to catch a ferry. The service was excellent and responsive to our lack of time. The food was equally superb; we had an excellent risotto with lake fish. It isn’t cheap but it is a tourist area and they at least justify the price. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best places I've eaten in. The food was extremely satisfying - tasty local variants of Italian classics in a very picturesque setting. The service was super friendly. Can't miss it!

Very good food, we went for lunch and ordered the trout fillets and the vegetarian tagliatelle, both very tasty and worth the price. Good service also.
