So we started our drive at 7:30
We bought a guided a tour on line “ Gypsy tour” something like that!
I highly recommended getting a tour! He told us where to stop and maybe you can pass on that one.
The timing was perfect!
I ‘d say maybe make a reservation at MAMA’s fish house far ahead of time.
We couldn’t get in so we were lucky to sit at the bar early. Fresh fish. I didn’t love the crab cake appetizer. Very small . No taste,.
My husband had octopus which he liked.
Fish for dinner
Great atmosphere. Bartenders were awesome r!

This iconic drive is filled with many twists and turns, narrow bridges, and massive amounts of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see. As this beautiful drive started out I had prepared myself for an epic winding road dangling off of cliffs, and onto jagged rocks below. Obviously what we had experienced was much different. On a side note I would like to explain, my knowledge of Hana is from hearing stories of my dad driving the road to Hana before it was fully paved with signs everywhere in only 3 hours (it took me double that amount of time). The roads are all paved, yes they are narrow and one lane at times, but pretty smooth transitions. It is frustrating to ride behind the tourist riding their break the whole ride, but if you can get around them you are in for a peaceful drive. There are so many spots to stop at, and hidden spots that are worth fighting for a parking space, & getting out of your car to see. Overall the drive is beautiful and definitely worth the day of travel to see. Helpful hints: if there is a line of cars behind you and no one in front of you pull off and let them pass. When you stop to get out make sure you are not blocking the road. Some corners are tighter than others. If you made a mistake throw up a shocka to apologize. Honk your horn before turning on a one lane corner to warn cars on the other side. Have fun, be safe! Aloha.

This was a great view of Hawaii! I loved the entire trip. Make sure to plan ahead by reading about the drive. There’s too much to see. Stop at Halfway to Hana for banana bread and the Hana Farms Roadside Stand for bathrooms, pizza and other goods. Enjoy!

The drive is great but consider splitting it into two days by staying in Hana. There’s so much stuff to see along the way and if you’re the driver you’ll be exhausted by the time you get to Hana. It’s simply impossible to truly experience this in a day. If you are doing it in one day I’d recommend not stopping at the first few attractions except for maybe the garden of eden if you like feeding birds or are fond of plants. The good stuff is towards the middle/end of the road! See: Nahiku Road, Red Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach, Banana Bread, 7 Sacred Ponds. In terms of when to leave, to avoid crowds get past Kahului by 7am if you’re there for a day or past noon if you’re there for two+

HAVE to do this if you are in Maui. The drive is filled with exotic plants and trees, amazing views and waterfalls. Grab the app that guides you through the tour, it will point out all the interesting points along the way.

The entire road to Hana is a must do
Its a 5⭐ and trust me on this !!

If you cam rent a jeep for the second part of the road it would be best for you cause it’s Kinda rocky and dusty, bit possible to do with a simple car !

Garden of Eden its a must see it is simply amazing 😉

Interesting driving experience, however I do advice to start trip early, as we arrived to Hana when it was dark.
Road back was kind of stressful, but I guess it was luck of experience driving narrow roads

The Road to Hana is one of the most beautiful routes in the entire United States. Regardless of the weather, I recommend the trip. A must-do when visiting Maui. If you have the endurance, I recommend biking it! Pack smart and do your research before attempting.

First time on the road to Hana. It'll be my last. Learned so much but done it once and that's enough.

Probably the most scenic and beautiful stretch of highway in the USA! Have driven it twice two decades apart, most recently in March. Definitely must get the guided app which tells you precisely what you're looking at and when to pull over to see what. Few places to eat a long the way, don't get caught without snacks. If you have PLENTY of time, take 2 days and explore. The red sand beach was a big highlight.

This is a must. If you like driving (like I do), you must rent a car and do the drive yourself. It's such a beautiful drive! However, be careful... it gets really narrow in certain sections where only one lane of traffic (barely) can pass. You definitely need to drive cautiously because some of the locals don't really care for the tourists and will take the right of way. I recommend starting this one early to beat the tours. Also, having a little bit of peace on the road adds to the experience. Also, it takes a good day to drive there and back so make sure you leave enough time for activities and stops. I don't recommend stopping at every pullout to see waterfalls or other scenic spots. There's almost no room to stop on the side of the narrow roads and it can be quite sketchy if you ask me... There are so many other beautiful spots that aren't as chaotic so pick your moments as you please. If you don't like driving or don't want the hassle, pick a tour. I've never done one of these so I can't really comment on if they're worth it or not. Lastly, if you get car sick easily, I wouldn't recommend, there are endless switchbacks and hairpin turns.

I would take 2 days to do this trip drive-in to Hana the 1st day enjoy the sights and then drive back the 2nd day. Many many stops along the way. Talk to the locals and Enjoy the food. Don't forget to stop for your banana Mac bread...🤙

If you come to Maui and don’t do the Road to Hana, some would say you haven’t been to Maui. There are too many things to see on this trip for one day. You will have to pick-and-choose the attractions that seem the most interesting to you. If I return to Maui, I will likely spread the trip over two days in order to see more things and spend more time at places.

We got a Road to Hana CD to play while we were on the drive. This is a good tool to help you decide what to see.

ABSOLUTELY MUST DO IF YOU COME TO MAUI. This is just breathtaking, beginning to end. Highly HIGHLY recommend the Shaka tour guide from the App Store, for $8 you get a 12 hour day filled with amazing adventures. Bring your hiking and swimming gear. Definitely a must do.

This was a highlight of our trip and I would HIGHLY recommend downloading the Shaka Maui app if you plan on driving yourself. It narrates the entire trip to you through car stereo (phone has to be synced) and guides you on GPS, making the trip easier than you could imagine.

An absolutely amazing beautiful drive. The front end of the drive is challenging but doable, the backend (past Hana) sucked!
