I have never enjoyed going to a spice store so much. Absolutely beautiful interior design in such a way that it makes you feel phenomenal. They do have like specials and the spices are so worth it and you can get almost any spice guaranteed. Definitely check it out especially for gifts. I would recommend it.

Penzeys makes my life better and tastier! Every time I come here I am just blown away by the variety and quality of the spices!

Update: I ordered online for store pickup. They called me within an hour to arrange a pickup time. My bag was clearly marked and waiting outside on a shelf. I'm so excited to use the "Potato Love" and share some of the sale items with my sisters.

I miss going into this place and taking in all the smells and thinking positive for a spot in time that I will go home and cook up the most perfect dish of Indian, Italian, or Mexican that anyone has ever dared to dream of. Or, at least, I hope to expose my family to something new. So long, pasta and jarred sauce, at least for tonight. Anyway, although the store is lovely, I don’t go inside stores right now because of Covid. To fill this void, I, of course, order online!!! It is exciting to receive packages from Penzeys, and my order is always packed with care with some little free goodie that is all about good and love and justice. You’ve got me hooked, Penzeys. Oh, btw, the choices are remarkable and make a mundane dish into a memorable meal. Chile 3000, I am looking at you.

I love the selection of salt-free blends for myself and for family who are reducing salt (but not reducing flavor!). "Justice" is an awesome blend of onion-family herbs!! I've always found the staff friendly and helpful, and back when online orders and pickups were the only way, it worked fine for me. I'm glad to be back in-store as I always find something else I want, and there's the scents of the spices! But nothing wrong with a company making sure its employees are safe while still helping us cook tasty food. Otherwise, what's the point?

I have been buying spices from Penzey's since the olden days of ordering by catalog long before there was an internet. This one is filled with friendly, helpful employees. I would recommend ANY Penzey's to anyone who has taste buds.

Bill Penzey offers specials at his stores on a weekly basis, which is always a worthwhile encouragement to shop at one of his two Madison area locations. The spices, herbs, and blends/mixes are outstanding and great care is taken to offer fresh products. In particular, I can vouch for the various curries that add terrific flavor to meats and veggies of all kinds, as well as to veggie and salad dressings and sauces. The staff at both stores are knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful. Having quickly become aware -and greatly appreciative - of the quality of Penzey's products, I no longer purchase anything of this type from grocery stores. For cooks far more serious than I, no doubt they are already fans!

Fantastic selection of quality spices and seasoning mixes. Obviously more expensive than grocery store options, but you really do get what you pay for. Also signing up for the email list is awesome since they regularly (2-3x per month) will offer either discounted spices, free ones with a small ($5) purchase, or just outright free spices. The staff are also friendly and helpful, without being pushy, and the space itself is nice and well laid out.

Always a great place to get some of the best spices on the planet. I love that they have multiple sizes from trial size to one cup size.

A long time favorite store of mine! I've been coming for years. So glad they are in the Madison area. I use them for cooking all of the time. They have pretty much any type of spice you could possibly need or want. I love coming here and browsing. There's a nice big parking lot out front for easy access. And everything is arranged quite nicely. It's a very customer friendly atmosphere.

PreCovid you could smell more herbs and spices just walking inside, due to availability of sniffer jars. But shopped there before, knew what I was low on. Awesome, fresh herbs and spices. No comparison to grocery store fare.

Listen, Penzeys is the BEST spice company. I discovered them while living in Milwaukee, but continue to stop by the Madison location once a month now that I'm in IL. Fox Point is a staple. I'm constantly restocking my dried shallots. Any baker has to have their signature cinnamon in their cabinet. Don't mess around, stock up your shelves!

Penzy's spices is the only place I go for my spices. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The products are nicely arranged, and there is a "sniffing jar" of each of the spices. The intoxicating aroma gives the shopper an idea of the flavors that will enhance your food.

As a boy growing up in Milwaukee in the 70's my mom would take me along to The Spice House. It was always a treat and an adventure. Today, it has become Penzeys though the original store is still owned by other family members. Penzeys continues to offer top quality spices and retains authenticity. It's here that you will find that Paprika really is a spice and not just a pretty topping for deviled eggs! There are multiple types of Basil, Pepper and other common spices and you can find unusual ingredients spices like Sumac and Chervil. I guess I only have one complaint and that is that they have begun to focus on their own blends which are quite good but as a purist, I prefer to make my own.

Good quality spices really elevate your cooking and this is the place to get them.

Penzeys has the best spices available and the best staff too. I went there looking for a gift for someone and they helped me pick the perfect items. I've used them for years and have never been disappointed with the quality.

Penzey's is a truly wonderful company. Full selection of a spices, herbs and wonderful custom blends. Their customer service is top notch. I have honestly never had a negative thing to say about my purchases from Penzey's over the last 10+ years!

Mural of Flavor is my favorite blend of spices. It's awesome in everything from tuna to mashed potatoes. They didn't have a specialty mixture I happened to be looking for, but were extremely helpful when it came to finding it somewhere else. I really appreciate the service at this location.
